How is this relevant for our time?

Right in the midst of that intense upheaval and destruction which signifies the move from one Age to another, we are somehow deeply aware that we are living in a moment when a ‘new thing’ or new divine initiative is in process. Inevitably this impacts profoundly on us and earth’s children.

At the cusp of a new Age, worlds come into collision. In this context it is helpful to think of each two thousand year Age, with its unique energies, challenges and possibilities, as an intrinsic part of Divine purpose and plan, and a divinely ordered catalyst to human and planetary unfoldment. It becomes clear that if the greater cosmic energies remained static or fixed throughout history then unfoldment would occur at a much slower pace than it does. Great changes on the planet, and the movement of humanity to a new life stage, are catalysed by complex interactions between God’s will and purpose, the flux of impacting cosmic energies, and human responses and initiatives based on freedom of choice.

At this moment we are experiencing on a global scale the collision between the dominant and calcifying energies of an almost-spent Piscean Age, and the emerging, very different, very challenging energies of Aquarius-Leo. I see the fallout not only in the world’s news as it covers post-Taliban conditions in Afghanistan, the refusal on the part of Israeli and Palestinian hard-liners to let go of outmoded ‘eye for an eye’ reprisals, or the wide-scale failure to date of the Catholic church to take responsibility for sexual abuse accusations against its priests. I continually see evidence of this collision in my own professional practice as parents operating within the parameters of the older energies collide, often very forcefully, with children born to ‘walk in front’ as leaders of the new. This is not just a generational collision; it is a collision of major proportions, for in this instance the children and teenagers will be far more spiritually, mentally and emotionally mature than their parents.

Every Age has its light and dark sides. In a period of transition both the most uplifting and most damaging energies of both Ages are prominently visible. While category 1 children will be more immune, many of our children and young people (including those in category 2) are caught in the great undealt-with shadow sides of both old and new:

Addictions - to drugs, sex, pornography, violence, video games with their virtual violence

Fundamentalism, exclusivism, jihad, or the grand myth of being ‘God’s chosen people’ (whether that arises among Jews, Muslims, Christians or fanatically patriotic Americans)
