Note: While this portion of our web site is dedicated, primarily, to the spiritually gifted child, our first article provides a very necessary context and tackles some of the significant issues faced by all children (and the adults who in any way touch their lives) at this moment in human history.
If history is, in essence, the ongoing story of God’s unfolding purpose in the cosmos, then human history may be seen as the impact of ongoing Divine purpose and plan in relation to humanity and this planet.
In our attempt to begin to come to grips with what that might mean for us at this moment, it would help if we, like fourth century Augustine, could see the whole of human history (not just to this point but as far as we can possibly vision it into the future) as one lifetime, stretching from conception to eventual intensifying maturity.
Just as in every individual lifetime the demands differ profoundly at every point and every life stage, so too in the lifetime of humanity at large. There will be constant and profound shifts in: level of consciousness, degree of self-identity, degree of awareness of relationship to others and the world at large, capacity to love, capacity to communicate, capacity to see the ramification of actions and within that the choice to act with maturity and to take responsibility for each action.
